Evony Irene d’Arneau: Best Pairings, Covenants, and Recruitment Tips

Home | General Intro | Evony Irene d’Arneau: Best Pairings, Covenants, and Recruitment Tips
Evony Irene d’Arneau, a new general released with the 2026 Triumphal Celebration events. She appears to be the strongest assistant general leading siege machines in the game so far. This guide will provide you with a detailed introduction to this general, how to obtain her, and recommended synergy combinations.

The Story of Irene d’Arneau

Born into a French Huguenot family exiled in Switzerland, Irene d’Arneau traced her lineage back to Abraham Duquesne, the legendary French naval commander of Louis XIV’s era. Though her family had fled France for their faith, the sea remained in their blood. From the trading houses of Smyrna to the hidden docks of Marseille, Irene quickly carved out a place for herself within the Mediterranean’s secret networks.

When the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars plunged the Mediterranean into chaos, Irene rose swiftly amid the turmoil. Legend has it that when Napoleon slipped out of Egypt bound for France, a Maltese-flagged xebec helped his small fleet evade British patrol ships. Irene’s name appeared in no French military record, only in forged passes, leaked routes, and a night of fruitless British searches. To the British, she was a smuggler. To the French, an exile. To the Barbary pirates, a thorn they could never pull out.

When the First Barbary War broke out, William Eaton recruited Irene into his expedition for her connections and experience in the Mediterranean underworld. O’Bannon was wary of her at first, but Irene quickly proved her worth in Alexandria, using bounties and promises to rally Greek gunners, Maltese sailors, Arab cavalry, and desert guides to the cause. Her knowledge of supply routes and North African ports guided the expeditionary force across the desert to the walls of Derna. During the Battle of Derna, she led a small team through an old drainage channel into the city’s flank, severing the powder magazine from the gate so O’Bannon’s frontal assault could break through the defenders’ line.

After the battle, she handed O’Bannon detailed intelligence on the Pasha, giving the Americans the upper hand at the negotiating table. Irene received no hero’s welcome when victory came, but she and her Mediterranean network had played a vital role in the expedition’s success.

Based on the data above, we can draw the following conclusions:
Shapur I provides the best boost to siege machine HP. But, aside from the HP boost, Irene d’Arneau offers superior boosts in all other dimensions.
Therefore, acquiring, training, and using the new general Irene d’Arneau is the best choice.
However, if you are still in the small castle stage and don’t frequently use siege machines for attacks, you can consider choosing generals that are easier to obtain.
Alternatively, if you have already developed Hersilia and don’t intend to replace her for the time being, you can continue using her.
